EOTD 1st Annual Mug Show

The Dog's Eye Gallery in San Marcos is beginning a cup show tradition with its 1st Annual Mug Show. I am very pleased to say that I had a tumbler accepted by Juror Renee Lopresti. The show opens on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo!) with a reception from 6-9pm. For more info about the show, click here.

TCF 2016

The 24th annual Texas Clay Festival is in Gruene, Texas, Saturday, October 22 from 10-6, and Sunday, October 23 from 10-5. This is really the BEST event for clay in Texas all year long. There 70+ talented ceramics artists selling their work, myself included. Additionally, there are 4 demonstration tents set up, where, over the course of the weekend, artists will share their tips and techniques. So come on out and visit! More info and directions here.

Texas Clay

Beginning April 14, the pottery friends have a group show, curated by my buddy Chris Gray, hosted at Collin College in Plano, Texas. Niko and I will be giving a short lecture about our work on Thursday, April 28 at noon, followed by the show reception from 4 to 7pm. More details here. If you'd like to see images of the pieces I put in the show, click here. The show is open through May 11.

Six Pack Show!

It's that time again, the Texas Clay Arts Association, of which I am a proud member, is hosting its yearly Six Pack Show. All work must fit within the space taken up by a six pack of longnecks. The show is at the Coop Gallery from April 14-17.

The 21st San Angelo National Ceramic Competition

This spotted keeper will be at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts from April 16 to June 26, 2016.

The Texas Clay Arts Association's yearly Six Pack Show will be held concurrently at the Coop Gallery; I will have a piece in that show as well.

If you're in the area, be sure to check it out. This year's visiting artist is the always charming Ron Meyers.

Orton Cone Box Show

This piece was selected to be part of the NCECA Orton Conebox show. The show is at the Hilliard Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri; open from March 4-26.

Beyond the Brickyard

I am very (VERY!) excited that my piece "Spotted Egg Server" was selected for the Archie Bray Foundation's exhibition "Beyond the Brickyard." The show opens in January and runs through March 2016. You can see images of past exhibitions here.

The 23rd Texas Clay Festival will be Saturday, October 24 from 10-6 and Sunday, October 25 from 10-5. Come see us, rain or shine! Spoiler alert- it's going to be rain. Bring your slicker!

One of my favorite shows to be a part of every year is Texas Clay Arts Association's fun and fitting "Six Pack Show." The show opens on June 6, 2015 with a free workshop by the famous (infamous?) Ryan McKerley. You can find more information at http://www.texasclay.org/show or Live Oak Art Center.

This tic-tac-toe game, and many other fun pieces, will be available at Studio C Gallery in Corpus Christi through June 27, 2015.

These two hand-sized, wood-fired rattles will be in Philadelphia at The Clay Studio's show titled Small Favors X. All pieces in the show, including my rattles, are 4" or smaller. If you are in the area, please check it out. The show opens on April 3, and runs through April 26.

MCC Spring 2015 Workshop

In mid February, Brandon Phillips is coming to MCC to load and fire the wood kiln with us, and hopefully we will fire up the soda kiln as well.

Workshop at Victoria College

On March 4, 2015, I have been invited as a visiting artist to Victoria College, where I will demo and give a brief slide talk for the evening classes.

Empty Bowls 2015

For many years, I donated bowls to this event, which is organized by Trinity Ceramic Supply in Dallas. Then I slacked. But no more! I am going to donate some of my best bowls to the event this year. For more details, go to https://web.ntfb.org/emptybowls.

Pottery Friends Sale, December 12-13, 2014

Texas Clay Festival, October 25-26, 2014
This year is the 22nd second anniversary of the Texas Clay Festival, and my fifth! year of being in the family. Come out and see the greatest group of Texas mudders around. In addition to 60+ clay artists, there are demonstrations throughout both days. The festival is free (except for all the pots you’ll want to buy ;) ) and will be Saturday, October 25 from 10 to 6, and Sunday, October 26, from 10 to 5. This “two-day all-clay love-fest” makes me smile so much my cheeks hurt.
