2019 Spring MCC Wood firing
On March 23, 2019, we fired up the old wood kiln. It took us about a week to get it loaded (and when I say us, I mean Niko, 100%), we gave it a good campfire start Friday evening (about 6 hours of campfire+ levels of stoking, nowhere near red heat), and spent about 18 hours firing it to completion on Saturday. Go team! We certainly put down cone 12 in front, as is our usual. We kept the back at about cone 8, to keep the red clays happy. All in all, the firing was a success, with lots of good color and ash; very little loss. Whew! Below are some images of the loading, unloading, and a few finished pots. If you have any questions, feel free to holler at me!
